Garden Design in Boston, MA
When it comes to your dream home in the country, the gardens are as important as the house itself. Whether the setting is woodland, rolling hills or the shores of a lake, your landscape should blend with and enhance the natural environment. It should also provide quiet, intimate spaces where you can enjoy the outdoors.
Perhaps you imagine an orchard where you and your children can pick apples, or a natural stone swimming pool for cooling off on hot days. Or maybe your ideal garden is simply a patio that offers a seat under a shady tree, with a perennial border for cutting fresh flowers. No matter what form it takes, every design solution is arrived at with your lifestyle in mind.
Jean Brooks Landscapes has been published in Architectural Digest and This Old House Magazine. In addition, our work has received awards from the Mass Horticulture Society for innovation in urban garden design and children’s gardens. So what distinguishes us from others in the field? We believe there are a few key company traits. One is our style, which honors both contemporary traditions, but is most often inspired by nature. Another is our staff, which is made up of talented designers and well-educated plant lovers. And finally, there is our mission: to create imaginative landscapes that enrich peoples’ lives.
We specialize in landscape design!
The Jean Brooks team of 20 includes full time designers, gardeners and builders, with backgrounds as diverse as landscape design, art history, studio art, horticulture and carpentry. This range of talent allows us to continually solve design challenges with creativity and intelligence.

So when she moved to Cambridge in 2009, she was delighted to find that JBL was a neighbor with its headquarters in Central Square. As a child growing up in the Hudson River Valley, Stef referred to her family’s rock garden as “her office” and under the rhododendron tree, “her clubhouse”.
She wears many hats here at JBL including managing the new showroom “jbl SHED” at the front of our office space where visitors can find antique garden ornaments and other unusual “found” objects. Email Stef if you’d like to visit our “SHED”.
